A few notes

  • Jan. 26th, 2007 at 11:09 AM
ooh
1) Tomorrow, Terry Gross is going to be on A Prairie Home Companion. Yay!

2) If you have *any* interest in the whole War On Fat topic, you have to read "A diet of misinformation", a Rob Lyons article on this week's Spiked.

3) I'm going to pick a day of the week and volunteer with Food Not Bombs. If you have any interest in partnering up with me, you can help me pick which day. Anyone feeling community-service-y?

4) Mango mango mango!

Food Not Bombs and New Orleans memories.
I've heard that the Berkeley FNB has better cooks than the NOLA one. In NOLA, I always thought, "Sweet kids. BUt they do know that herbs, peppers and salt are vegan, right?"

I was greatful for the food, but looked forward more to the Hari Krishnas on Sunday, and the Christans on Wednesday.

You know they have to be bad cooks cause I was only eating for sure three times a week at that point, and I never looked forward to it when they came around! @.@

Hopefully, that's not the case in Berkeley. If it is though, on behalf of homeless people everywhere, I will beg you to *please* bring some herbs and spices and slip 'em into the stew.

Nah, these guys have a big old bunch of spices, and they use them. Last time I went, I helped cook roasted root veggies with rosemary, and a huge stirfry that used ginger, garlic, soy, and five-spice powder.

I really wish there was a Food Not Bombs in London (UK). I tried to find one a while ago, but the only contact person I could find wasn't doing it any more. (I don't have the resources to set one up on my own.)
